Sugar Act
On April 5, 1764, Parliament passed an act to charge a small amount for sugar you purchase. The colonists reaction was a protest, while the British Government was happy about it so they got the debt paid off from the Seven Years War. -
Currency Act
On September 1, 1764, Parliament passed another act called the Currency Act that prohibited the use of American currency and could only use pound sterling. The colonists protested again and the British Government was happy that they were getting money. -
Stamp Act
The stamp act was an act that made you pay for a stamp on any printed paper except for books. The colonists started to uprise, boycott, and riot so the British Government was angered. -
Boston Port Act
The British Government passed an act that would close down the Boston, Massachusetts port so they wouldn’t be able to get supplies and had to pay about $1 million. They realized that it wasn’t just Boston’s problem, but everyone’s and wanted to help out, so the British Government was angered and passed more acts. -
Administration of Justice Act
This act allowed British officials to go to a different colony or Great Britain for trial when charged in law enforcement. The colonists were angered at this since they couldn't do it and the British Government was happy because their people weren't getting put in jail. -
Quartering Act
The colonists had to host the British soldiers in their homes and provide for them along with being taxed. The colonists resented it and continued to uprise while the British Government continued to come up with more taxes.
