Revenue Acts

  • Sugar Act

    The British put a 3 cent tax on sugar. They also increased taxes on coffee, indigo, and wine. The Colonists didn't like this act as they believed it "Restricted Justice." On the other hand, the British liked it as it made them more money.
  • Currency Act

    Currency Act
    The currency act was enacted to control the currency system. The Colonists did not like this as it restricted the ways they could spend their money. Because the British government was making money, the liked it very much.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    This taxed colonists for every piece of paper they printed. The Colonists fought tax collectors for this one while the British had total control.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    This act taxed Americans for tea, paints, papers, and lead. This made Colonists only buy smuggled tea. The British stopped caring and kept it without consent.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    This act expanded the East India Colony. The Sons of Liberty threw 340 chests of te into the Boston Harbour and in all the British got the worst end.
