The Sugar Act
The British Parliament decided to tax the colonies first with the sugar act. The Sugar act made the colonists had to start paying three pents for a pound of sugar to help pay off England's debt. This really only annoyed the colonists, but the Parliament was glad they were able to start paying off their debt. -
Colonial currency act
This made the colonists only pay in gold and silver. This made the colonists very angry because they barely had any gold or silver, so they had to trade with England which made the parliament happy. -
The Stamp Act
An act from the British Parliament to help pay off the costs of the Seven Year War. The stamp act made you put a stamp on every piece of paper besides books, but for the Parliament to get income, they made the colonists pay for all the stamps. The colonists were outraged from this act and the colonists fought back to get this act gone. The British were probably mad about this because they repealed the act, but they were able to secretly add more acts. -
The Quartering Act
This act made the colonists house soldiers from Britain in barracks. The colonists probably weren't happy because of the soldiers occupying the colonies, but the British government would be glad that they would be able to bring soldiers into the colonies. -
The Revenue Act
This placed taxes on glass, lead, painters, colors, tea, and paper. The colonists were angry about this act because they deemed the taxes as a threat to their rights as British subjects. The British were happy about the act until the Colonists fought back on the taxing.
