Leonardo da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452, in Anchiano, Italy. He was a painter and sculptor during the Renaissance. His most famous piece was the Mona Lisa which was painted in 1503. The Mona Lisa is located in the Louvre Museum in Paris.

Scientists and artists worked together to understand the human body more. They worked together so they could make more accurate drawings and figured out how stuff worked. Indulgences were little pieces of paper that the Church sold. They were pretty much a free pass into heaven. If you had one, then you got to skip purgatory. Johann Tetzel sold indulgences in 1517.

Martin Luther Writes His 95 Theses (Protestant Reformation)
Martin Luther's 95 Theses was the first complaint with the Catholic Church. He nailed a piece of paper to the Church doors of Wittenburg that had 95 reasons the Church was wrong. This inspired people to realize the Church was wrong and they rebelled against it.

The Church was corrupted, but the regular townspeople didn't know that. They would sell positions in the Church for money. They also sold pieces of paper, indulgences, that said you could get into heaven as soon as you died.

The Church didn't like Luther's 95 theses, obviously, so they had him tried and made him recant. However, he didn't and people hid him so he could still write. German kings were also called tried and were told to not use Luther's teachings but they did anyway.

After Martin Luther and the German kings refused to give up his work, the Catholic Church gave up. Luther and his followers made a new religion called Lutheranism. It focused mainly on the changes Martin Luther thought needed to be made.

The Last Judgement was painted from 1535-1541 in Vatican City. It is a fresco painting in the Sistine Chapel. It was painted by Michelangelo. The fresco shows the Second Coming of God and him judging everyone.
