    The Book of the City of Ladies- Literary Works

    The book called "City of Ladies" was written by Christine de Pizan. In the book she argued that women should have the same equal rights as men, such as education. Instead of only having men being the ones that go to school and get a job women should be able too. Back in this time girls growing up didn't even go to school they stayed home and were taught by their mothers how to cook, clean, and sew clothes.

    Pope Leo- The Catholic Church

    The pope was always seen as the leader and a guide to life. The people were accepted to follow what Pope Leo had to say and what the bible wrote, so they will please the gods. Pope Leo goes down in history as one of the most important popes during the Renaissance. The great church called St. Peter's Basilica begin to get built in the year 1506 for people to gather and worship their gods.

    Johannes Gutenberg made the amazing invention the movable printing press. The first printed book was made in 1455, called the Gutenberg Bible.     The first protest challenge happened in 1517. Because of Martin Luther 95 theses. Luther protested against the pope saying his beliefs on how people should follow Christ. Luther believed that people who read the bible should have their own belief on how they understand it, instead of the Pope telling them what it says and what they need to do everyday to go to Heaven.

    In 1517 Martin Luther shared his voice about the Catholic Church in Rome. He knew people made mistakes and he wanted them to have a way to ask for forgiveness of their sins. Pope Leo X tried to convince people not to read them, but Luther's words were too strong. The 95 theses talk about God and the bible and tell you how to live a full life putting God before yourself.

    During this time period the food you ate depended on how high of class you were in. For example weddings were always a fun time! Because weddings were such an important event people would eat fancy food, such as peacocks. A famous wedding that happened back in 1539 was Cosimo I de' Medici and Eleonora di Toledo. They had decorations all over the church, amazing food, and of course entertainment.

    Council of Trent- Martin Luther & the Protestant Reformation

    The council of Trent was held in Italy in 1545. This act was a huge movement up for the Catholics Church. This group was mainly filled with bishops, and they wanted to share with everyone on their take of Catholic Church and their beliefs. One belief they had said "Belief of justification by scripture alone." Meaning they should keep things simple, always following faith first.

    Just like today, music was important then too. Important music event that happened was in 1564 when the Violin was invented by Andrea Amati. Musical instruments were important during this time for entertainment such as plays and weddings. People mainly danced in a group of 2, because partner dancing was one of the famous dances to do. The violin later helped develop new instruments that people still enjoy to use as entertainment!
