Black Death in Europe
Many Christians blamed the Jewish people for the Black Death.
The Jewish people were accused of poisoning town water supplys and foodstuffs. A number of Jews were tortured throughout the epidemic in and effort to get a confession of guilt.

Russian Jews removed from homes and land
Russian Jews were forced to live in what became known as the Pale of Jewish Settlement.
After the assassination of Alexander II there was a wave of pogroms in Russia against the Jewish community. -
First Killing Center Begins Operation
The Chelmno killing center begins operation. The Nazis later establish five other such camps: Belzec, Sobibor, Treblinka, Auschwitz-Birkenau (part of the Auschwitz complex), and Majdanek. -
Wannsee Conference and the "Final Solution"
The Wannsee Conference, a meeting between the SS (the elite guard of the Nazi state) and German government agencies, opens in Berlin. They discuss and coordinate the implementation of the "Final Solution," which is already under way. At Wannsee, the SS estimates that the "Final Solution" will involve 11 million European Jews. -

Solomon Radasky spent nine weeks at Majdanek death camp before he was moved to Auschwitz-Birkenau.
"I was 9 weeks in Majdanek. The Ukrainer they got a half inch. . . just a half inch, a quarter of an inch iron pipes and knock us in the head and every day fall dead," Solomon Radasky.
