The refugee problem
Nowadays, more and more people becoming aware of the refugee problem. Massive waves of refugees are being transferred from their home countries to another country to find a better life. So, our city, Kozani, is willing to help people in need. -
Number of refugees
First of all, the population of Kozani is about 50.000 cityzens, thus, a good number of refugees that can be successfully integrated in our town is about 2.000 people. We can help them incorporate in our community with various of ways and help them improve their way of life. -
Accomondation
Another problem that arises, is their accomondation to the city. The mayor should take responsibility and build a purpose built camp for the refugees with all the neccessary equipment such as a communal cooking a showerblock etc. Moreover, the refugees will be able to stay in the refugee camp as long as they need or whenever they will be able to stand on their feet and move out of the camp. -
School's help
Although, the mayor is not the only one taht should help in their integrate. For, example, schools should help to. First and foremost, kids and teachers fron schools should give a warm welcome to the refugee children and embrace them. Also, schools can donate old clothes, old toys and food. Provide, refugee children with lessons in Greek. Finally, school encourage their schoolmates and friends to accept refugee children as their friends. -
Work facilities
However, giving the refugees a place to stay, some warm clothes and food is a temporary solution. Adults need a job to ensure their living. A good way to raise the employment opportunities for the refugees is by employing women to clean houses, or as waitresses at the local restaurants or at the local women's cooperative. Men, can be employed in farming or as craftsmen at local businesses or pottery marketing. -
Benefits for the city
The benefits of including refugees in our community are various. Initially, the economy of the region will be developed. Last but not least, a main advantage for Kozani is that a good option will be created. -
Solution
To sum up, dealing with the refugee problem is a hard thing to do but a lot of people can benefit from and also evokes a feeling of empathy and an act of kindness.
