Used reading as an escape.
some times my parents would fight I would use reading as an escape from reality. I loved the boxcar children, goosebumps, and the magic tree house books. -
start reading for fun.

I had trouble reading aloud.
I always had trouble reading a loud so my teachers felt like I was behind in my reading when it was mostly nerves. I got grouped in with tier 3 kids and it actually helped me read a loud. -
attended reading events.
This made reading really fun and enjoyable. -
continued reading for pleasure and for school.
