Read to Me
My mom started reading to me regularly at the age of four. My favorite book was Love You Forever by Robert Munsch but in Spanish. -
1st Grade
I began reading on my own in 1st grade and I loved to read The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein to my parents, even though I couldn't read every word. -
Reading Night
Once a month our school PTA would hold a Reading Night where each student would take a book and swap it with another student. -
Library Summer Reading Program
My mom enrolled me in a summer reading program at the Whitney Library where we received prizes when we reached different reading goals. -
Library Card
I got my first library card in 3rd grade. My mom would take me every afternoon where I would spend hours reading Junie B. Jones books. -
Volunteer
In 6th grade I would read to my 1st grade teachers students. I would go three times a week after school for the whole school year. -
Class Reading
In 9th grade we read The Great Gatsby as a class. At first I couldn't concentrate and I would never remember anything. Towards the middle of the book I couldn't put it down. -
Nicholas Sparks
I had recently seen The Last Song when I found out there was a book on the movie. I instantly fell in love with Nicholas Sparks. I have bought and read most of his books. -
Reading With My Niece
I would spend most of my weekends reading to my first niece. Her favorite book was also, Love You Forever. -
Pachinko
Last semester one of my courses required me to read book that was 496 pages, I never thought I would love it. After reading it I found out that Apple was working on a series and I constantly check AppleTV to see if it has aired.
