When I was about 10 years old I taught myself to read in Spanish. I already knew how to speak it so it wasn't too hard. I would read my parents' Spanish encyclopedias. -
The Bad Side of Reading

Began To Enjoy Non-Fiction
I discovered the Chicken Soup for the Soul books and completely fell in love with them. Before them, I hadn't read too many non-fiction books. -
Received My Letter from Hogwarts
A little late but better than never. My little sister was in 5th grade at the time and was assigned to read Harry Potter. She told me about it and although I was 16 I immediately fell in love. -
Graphic Novels & Manga
I had read comic books when I was younger, but around this time I was introduced to Manga and longer graphic novels like Y The Last Man and I ended up really liking this genre. -
Finally Read The Great Gatsby Completely
This was one of the books I had to read in high school but never finished it because I didn't want to. Many years later I was bored one day and started to read it and it became one of my favorites. -
John Green
I read The Fault In Our Stars and really liked it, so I decided I wanted to read more from the same author. I ended up really liking all of John Green's work and I consider him one of my favorite authors. -
Poetry
I never liked poetry when I was growing up but then all of a sudden it began to interest me. Charles Bukowski might have had a little to do with it.
