Reading History

  • Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

    Chicka Chicka Boom Boom
In kindergarten, my teacher would read this book to the class. She had props, the coconuts and tree, to show the class which I felt like really made me interested in this book. This was one of my favorite books to read on our free time, everyone fought over this book.
  • Junie B. Jones

    Junie B. Jones
I believe I started reading this series of chapter books in 2nd grade. I even seen the Musical for a field trip and it was really engaging, bringing the stories to life.
  • The Watsons Go to Birmingham

    The Watsons Go to Birmingham
I read this book in my 6th grade English class. It was my first chapter book that I can remember, where I really had to break it down. I had different assignments as comprehension activities, something different from elementary.
  • The Outsiders

    The Outsiders
I read this book in my 7th grade English class. I really enjoyed it. It grabbed my attention and was interesting. The vocabulary was not difficult and the comprehension was easy. At the end of the book we watched the movie, I really liked that.
  • The Steps

    The Steps
I fell in love with this book and read it over and over again, I would say about 4 times. I still have this book, but at the time I was a teenager and this girl in the book really had my attention. I tried to find other books from this author, or similar books, but I never was able to.
  • The Odyssey

    The Odyssey
I read this book in my 9th grade English class. I absolutely did not like this book. It was boring, it didn't have anything to draw the attention of students. It did have advanced vocabulary though.
  • The Scarlett Letter

    The Scarlett Letter
I read this book in my 10th grade English class I believe. In this class we had to do different activities that would test our reading comprehension.
  • Romeo and Juliet

    Romeo and Juliet
I read this book in 11th grade, I believe. It was such a long book. The older I got, we had to do more with the books and testing our comprehension. I liked it because it was a book classic, but at the same time it had different language and vocabulary in it to remember.
  • A Long Walk to Water

    A Long Walk to Water
Such a great book! I highly recommend this book, it made me cry. This book made me realize that we take certain things for granted, like water as the example in the book. It is a true story, so good!
  • Ninth Ward

    Ninth Ward
I read this book last semester for a course. I loved this book! I had not read since my junior year in high school. It was realistic, and told the story of Hurricane Katrina, from a young girls side.
