    In my kindergarten class we would always have story time. Each week my teacher would choose a picture book and we would sit in a circle and listen to him read to us. This was fun because we got to interact with one another and look at pictures that went with the book.

    In the first grade, I had to rewrite a children's story in my own words. I rewrote the frog and toad and had fun creating my own book cover. This was all my own idea and I love animals so I was able to write about something I love.

    My aunt was a 3rd grade teacher. When I was in middle school, she would ask me to come in and read to her students once a month. This made me feel like I was smart and I could teach younger kids to read just like me.

    In high school I was in yearbook. I would have to interview students and write about them in an article in the yearbook. This required me to reread each detail about these students so I wouldn't make a mistake.

    My broadcast class won 2nd place in a competition and I was voted to be our speaker. I had to write a speech and recite it in front of hundreds of people. This helped me learn how to read ahead and make eye contact.

    I have worked in restaurants for 14 years now. I have to memorize a greeting and speak to strangers everyday. I am required to write down what they order and reread it to them in a timely manner.
