    Sister reading
    When I was younger, I noticed my sister reading a lot because she was very interested in reading, and I believe that was my first interaction with somebody reading and being interested in a book.
  • Preschool

    I just started preschool very early, and because of this, I had two years of preschool. Thankfully this introduced me very early on to letters and recognition.
  • Being read to

    My mother and my sister would read books to me and although I didn't know how to read yet I would listen to these stories and be entertained.
  • Circle time

    Circle time had a significant influence on my interest in reading, I would hear my teachers reading and got curious.
  • Teacher play

    When I was younger, I would like to play “teacher” with my younger brothers, this means having to read to them at “circle time". Although this is something small and it was just play it made me read books and practice my reading.
  • Book challenges

    When I was in elementary school my school would have these challenges where students that read the most books in a year can get a prize such as a pizza party. Of course, reading was important to me but having that prize at the end made me want to read books even more.
  • Middle school

    In middle school is when teachers would have students read paragraphs from a textbook or a book that we were reading and that made me practice my pronunciation more while also knowing to take my time on the passage.
  • Book series

    Book series
    In middle school there was a point where all I would do was read this book series called Silence it was so intriguing, and I feel like it made a significant impact on my interest in reading because it genuinely hooked me. I had never experienced wanting to read and finish a book so fast until I read this series.
  • High school English class

    High school English class
    In high school, I had books assigned to us, and we would have to write papers on those books. This made me more interested in genres that I didn't know I liked such as romance, it expanded my interest in different genres.
  • College

    Since I've been in college I find myself reading textbooks most of the time, but this also has an impact because of the degree I am pursuing these textbooks are exciting therefore they also have an effect on my reading history.
