    Beginning
Ever since I was a baby, my parents involved themselves a lot with my reading skills and helped me read words and make sounds of what the word made!

    Baby
My parents read to me a lot, granted I was a baby at the time so I couldn't exactly understand what was going on but my parents reading to me was how I was able to get familiar with a lot. Such as, words, pictures, and letters!

    Early Childhood
In preschool, my teachers taught me a lot about recognizing and learning the alphabet. Understanding print knowledge, and having proper phonics when reading/speaking.

In Elementary School, I remember learning a lot about syllables, learning how to write sentences, writing the alphabet, silent letters when reading, and etc! A lot of good foundations were built to develop my reading.

I remember 'Philippa Fisher and the Fairies Promise' by Liz Kessler being one of my favorite books to read! In this era of my time, I heavily enjoyed reading various of books! Even fanfiction! Reading used to be one of my favorite hobbies.

    Middle School
In middle school, my middle school teachers taught how to further improve my reading comprehension by taking notes of the text. Adding along, they taught me on understanding the origin of the words, as well as paraphrasing what I have just read.

    Teenager
When I was a teenager, my reading comprehension was very creative! I wrote a lot of fanfiction of a British Boyband called One Direction at the time! I remember reading 'Twilight' by Stephen Meyer as one of my favorites!

    High School
When I was a teenager in High School, my teacher allowed us to analyze and understand more difficult texts such as poems, Shakespeare, etc. Not only that but there was a lot of online research of resources as well!
  • Adult

    Adult
As an adult, I don't read books as much anymore unfortunately. But I do my best to complete my goal of at least finishing a book once in a while! I'm making it my goal in 2024 to read one book every month! I got a lot into E-Books this year so reading went by quickly, I find it a bit more difficult for me to read a physical copy. A book that I'm reading right is 'Song of Achilles' Madeline Miller and 'Journals of Sylvia Plath' by Sylvia Plath.
  • College

    College
Currently, my reading comprehension has been difficult lately mainly because I'm taking in new knowledge from various things like research articles, peer reviewed journals, textbooks and etc. But I'm doing the best I can to fully understand everything but so far it's been a good learning experience.
