I spent a lot of time with my grandfather driving around in the car. He would spell the street signs to me and ask me what they said. -
Age 4
My parents would read books to me, I can especially remember my mom reading the book "Love You Forever" -
Christmas
My parents gave me a big storybook filled with all of the most popular princess fairy tales. -
Kindergarten
My teacher, Mrs. King, kept track of all the books each student read throughout the year. I read 100 Kindergarten level books. -
Second Grade
I took a placement test each quarter in school. In 2nd grade I was reading at a 5th grade reading level. -
Fourth Grade
My teacher, Ms. Trujillo, inspired me to read and challenge myself. I often found myself getting lost in books. -
A Series of Unfortunate Events
I began reading the series and quickly became almost obsessed. I would often read a book every 1 or 2 days and then beg my dad to take me to the store and buy the next one. -
Fifth Grade
I started the Harry Potter series. They were the longest books I had read yet. I would become so intrigued that I would often read at least a hundred pages every day. -
Seventh Grade
I asked my English teacher for a recommendation for a new book series. She gave me a new book called Twilight that was becoming pretty popular. I read the whole series and would eventually reread every book over and over again for the rest of the year. -
Eighth Grade
I became interested in classic books that I had heard references too in television shows that I watched. I read The Catcher in the Rye and The Fountainhead. -
High School and Beyond
I became uninterested in reading for quite some time. I only read out of necessity for school. -
Now
Now, I have found myself once again interested in reading classic books. I read the book The Thornbirds and Pride and Predjudice. I am currently in the middle of the classic Anna Karenina.
