Re-validation to use Suzuki Garphyttan raw material for part number L-08160-0681-00.
-
Period: to
ASW informed they will be permanently closing their manufacturing facility.
-
Suzuki Garphyttan returned to be the RM supplier for 681.
-
Suzuki Garphyttan internal validation of RM by ASM.
-
Luk Puebla requested first 30 pieces to be tested and revalidated.
Because we haven’t supplied SG parts since 2015 we need to be revalidated. -
Luk Puebla requested another 30 pieces to have a 2nd test.
-
Feedback was received from Luk from 1st 30 samples.
Two failed springs were reported from the first 30 samples. -
The 2 broken springs were sent to the ITC for failure analysis.
-
Reception of ITC failure analysis for the first 2 pieces.
The microhardness results met the nitride hardness
specification. Residual stress was measured via x-ray diffraction. The residual stress depth profile measured as expected. No
manufacturing or material defects were observed. -
Answer received from Luk about test results second 30 pieces.
Three failed springs were reported from the second 30 pieces. -
The 3 parts from the 2nd 30 samples that failed were sent to the ITC for failure analysis.
-
Reception of ITC failure analysis report for the second 3 pieces.
Conclusion: The cause of each spring failure appeared to be high stress fatigue. A Nitride layer was present and
met specified hardness and case depth requirements. No metallurgical or microstructural anomalies were visible
on or around the multiple fracture surfaces examined.
