My parents always read and watched TV in the evenings. We started our day by reading the newspaper over breakfast; us kids fought over the comics.

I was very proud when my article was chosen to be published in the elementary newsletter in 3rd grade. My parents kept that and now I have it to show to my kids!

By the time I was 11yrs old, I was reading adult fiction. One night I read Pet Cemetary by Stephen King and had horrible nightmares. I was scared of our pet cat for weeks!

Although I read a wide variety of adult fiction, science fiction, historical fiction, biographies, romance, etc.; I really hated reading the books the teacher assigned in English Class. I received a D in 7th grade english because I refused to read the 'juvenile' books she assigned.

My parents read my journal when I was 16 and sent me to counseling for the disturbing things I wrote. I was VERY angry with them and refused to talk to the counselor!

I am an excellent writer and can count on that strength to earn me good grades in college. I still enjoy reading as an escape from my hectic life!
