Qin Dynasty
Starting with efforts in 230 BCE, the Qin Dynasty established the first empire in China. Early on, they were able to successfully engulf six Zhou Dynasty states. This Dynasty is famous for the remains of the Terra-cotta Army and the border walls that marked the north part of their territory were expanded into the beginnings of the Great Wall of China. The Qin Dynasty only lasted from 221 to 206 BCE, however they had a strong cultural influence on the future dynasties to come. -

Death of Qin Shi Huang
While touring eastern China, Qin Shi Huang suddenly died. Officials traveling with him wanted to keep his death a secret, so they covered the stench of his corpse with carts full of fish. They also forged a letter to crown price Fu Su ordering him to commit suicide enabling his younger son to take the throne. -

Second emperor of Ancient China
Emperor Qin Shi Huandgi's 18th son Er Shi Haugndi becomes second emperor of Ancient China after his father suddenly dies. Er Shi Haugndi, also known as Qin Er Shi rules from 210 to 207 BCE. -

Rebellion
By 208 BCE, a vast majority of the people had turned against the new emperor, creating an environment of rebellion. -

The End of the Qin Dynasty
Warlord Xiang Yu emerged and defeated the Qin army in battle. He had the emperor executed, destroyed the capital and divided the empire up into 18 different states. -

Beginnings of the Han Dynasty
Xiang Yu commits suicide, and Liu Bang assumed the title of emperor of the Han Dynasty. Many of the Qin dynasty traditions and cultural influences are adopted. -
