    The Poor Law Act

    The earliest legislation we consider when looking at the public health is the Poor Law Act.This act was put in place to reduce the cost of looking after the poor because this stopped money going to the poor people except in exceptional circumstances.If people need help they would have to go the a workhouse.

    A few years later the first public health act was introduced by Edwin Chadwick.The act established a central board of health also cooperating with drainage and water supply to different areas in order to improve the Public Health.

    The Government put in an initiative to help people in England to become healthier.The report stated that the Government will put things into place such as giving people good information about their health so they are able to make right choices.
