Project-Based Learning (PBL) Research
The first day of the implementation plan requires a thorough understanding of what PBL looks like when it is implemented correctly. A thorough investigation of online resources is required.

PBL Initial Review & Brainstorm
Major stakeholders including, but not limited to, teachers, department chairs, site administrators, parents, TSAs, and district administrators, meet to review what PBL entails and how it might be implemented in our district. This session might also include a brainstorm of implementation, if necessary, as well as initial informal "approval" to move forward with this plan. -
PBL Focus Team Formed
Various volunteer stakeholders meet to begin designing the implementation process, necessary curriculum support, and district policies for PBL in the entire district. -
Board Meeting Approval
PBL Focus Team (possibly only a few representatives) presents the implementation plan to the CNUSD board for approval. -
PBL District Overview
PBL Focus Team works collaboratively to develop common threads among the school sites in the district slated for PBL implementation. Each school site will have some autonomy for implementation within common guidelines/policies set forth by the district. -
School Sites Team Formation
Each school site forms a focus team for specific site implementation plan. -
Schools Sites Individual Plan
Each school’s PBL Focus Team develops a plan for school implementation. The team meets regularly throughout the year and receives feedback from staff to adjust the plan as necessary. -
PBL Roll-Out Year 1
New school year, new academic focus for all! -
Mid-Year PBL Check-In
Individual sites' PBL Focus Teams meet to check-in on progress throughout first semester, including teachers' feedback, areas of strength, and areas of growth for second semester. -
End-of-Year PBL Review
Individual Sites' PBL Focus Teams meet to review Year 1 of PBL and make necessary changes for Year 2!
