    New invest in water
    In 1930s the Mexican government began investing on water storage to expand the development of the supply of water to increase the population. In 1983 the federal government transferred responsibility for water supply and sanitation to municipalities and states.
  • Cutzamala System

    Cutzamala System
    In 1990s there was a groundwater development and quiver pumping for agricultura, urban and industrial demands. In 1992 Mexico adopted the Ley de Aguas Nacionales which function to manage the management of water. In 1993 the Cutzamala system was completed, one of the largest pumping schemes in the world. This system pumps 19 cubic meters per second of water into Mexico City area.

    In 2004 the revision of the National Water Law was made, that means that 13 decentralized CNA regions would become basin organized serving as the technical arm of more broad-based basin councils. This one incorporated civil society interests including the private sector and citizens.

    In 2012, art.4 of the Mexican Constitution, it was establish the human right to the water and sanitation. The first Congress for Nacional isstability for water was organized. In 2013 the deadline to issue a General Water Law(LGA) was ended.

And there are also some programs to help cline rivers, create irrigation wells and the creation of rules to take care of rivers.
