"The Jungle"
Upton Sinclair publishes the book, "The Jungle", an account of the meatpacking industry in Chicago's stockyards. Sinclair was trying to raise awareness about the corporate corruption and the poor conditions in which workers were working. -
U.S. Tillman Act
Act passed by the United States named after Ben Tillman of South Carolina. The Act prohibited national banks and corporations from making political contributions in federal elections.
