Robert La Follette
Robert La Follette a.k.a, "Fighting Bob", was the senator and Govenor of Wiconsin from 1906- 1924. Fighting Bob sought to drive business out of politics. In order to regulate rates La follette targeted railroad industries. With his constant perserverance and enthusiastic speeches La Follette insisted on changing the power of congress for businesses. -
Upton Sinclair
Upton Sinclair was a muckraker who wrote negative things to undermine people in congress. Sinclair wrote the infamous article "The jungle" in 1906 that talked about the filth of the Meat industry. With this article he brought about the need for reform because of the ill conditions industires were doing to their employers and product. -
Teddy Roosevelt
Teddy roosevelt was a conservationist and the former republican president of America from 1901-1908. When running for presidency again Roosevelt was denied sponsership from the republican party because he was sought to be too liberal and then turned to the progressives. Roosevelt was against trust busting to help improve the middle class. -
16th Ammendment
the 16th amendment is :
" congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without other states approval or cenus."
the ammendment let the government states to have their own laws and in certain places things were legal. -
Jane Addams
Jane Addams was a women educated at rockford female seminary in1881 and sough to help those in need of assitance. She became co- founder of "Hull House" in chicago Illinois which was a facilitiy that helped poor and imigrant people with their nessicites.
