Plankalkül
The first high-level language completed. Designed between 1941-1945( But wasn't published until 1948), the programming system was made by German Computer Engineer Konrad Zuse. -
Fortran
Led by John Backus, an IBM tea was able to develop a powerful computer-based language that uses english-based statements called Fortran. For the next few decades would later prove that it's more efficient than hand-coding and would be used for scientific and technical computing -
MATH-MATIC
Sperry Rand released a complier for its UNIVAC 1. Programmer Grace Hopper made this as an improvement to her early compiler, the A-0. With this new version the MATH-MATIC this led to the development of the first English-language Business Data Processing Complier. -
COBOL
The Common Business-Oriented Language created by seven computer manufacturers and the Pentagon. COBOL's language inspired heavily by the FLOW-MATIC language. Made for business purposes and was hoped to be compatible with all computers. COBOL was the source code for one of the greatest movies ever "The Terminator". -
LISP
Designed and created by John McCarthy of MIT, LISP stands for LISt Processing language was created to further research in A.I. LISP is also used today in Ruby and Python. -
RPG
Report Program Generator is a high-level language that is used for wide varieties of business websites. it's an IBM programming module. Developed by IBM it was first used as a tool that served as a punch pro9cessing card. but it was later on innovated to a language that's equivalent to the COBOL and the PL/I -
BASIC
Beginner’s All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code was designed to be an easy to learn/use language. Thomas Kurtz and John Kemeny originally designed BASIC for their students at Dartmouth University who had no prior knowledge about programming. Over time the language was implemented into schools all over the world, nearly a decade later, BASIC was integrated into personal computers and shipped across the world. -
LOGO
In 1967, Seymour Papert would create a "turtle" that would draw using a programming language called LOGO. LOGO eas designed to trace an action with a pen, for example, if a little kid wanted to draw a fish you would input the command and once inputted the "turtle" will draw the fish showing the process on the monitor on its head -
B
B is a programming language developed at Bell Labs circa 1969. It was developed by Ken Thompson and Dennis Ritchie. B first appeared circa 1969. B was derived from BCPL -
PASCAL
Named after Blaise Pascal, French physicist, mathematician, and inventor. PASCAL was created to develop a programming language compatible with commercial and scientific applications. It could also teach programming techniques to college students. The creator Niklaus Wirth based off of another language Wirth helped with the ALGOL 60 -
C
Released in 1972, the C language created by Dennis Ritchie and his team. Based on BCPL(Basic Combined Programming Language), the source code for Unix was rewritten in C language. In this event, Unix was able to be ported easily to others. -
SQL
The Structured Query Language was developed by at IBM by Raymond F. Boyce and Donald D. Chamberlin. Used for changing and viewing information stored in databases. To remove, add, or view data SQL uses command sentences called queries. -
ML
Inspired by certain fundamental concepts of Computer Science, making them directly available to the programmer.ML is a multi-paradigm, extended functional programming language. It is also often labeled as an “impure” functional language because it allows side-effects. Developed by Robin Milner and his team at the University of Edinburgh at the LCF.LCF was implemented in ML and introduced in 1972. ML’s syntax was inspired by the ISWIM programming language. -
ADA
Extended from the computer language, PASCAL. ADA is a structured, imperative, and wide-spectrum computer programming language. designed by Jean Ichbiah of the CII Honeywell Bull, and was under contract with the DoD from 1977-1983. after having over 500 language reports the language was revised and released/published in 1980 -
C++
C++ is an add-on to the language C. Developed by Bjarne Stroustrup, C++ is one of the most used languages in the world. Used mostly in gaming engines and software like Adobe Photoshop. C++ is still used today in packaged software. -
Python
Creator Guido Van Rossum made Python an easier to read computer programming languages. Named after the British comedy group "Monty Python", Python requires fewer lines of code and is used by sites such as Instagram. -
Visual Basic
Used in my class Visual Basic was developed by Microsoft. It allows programmers to change and choose chunks of code that are pre-selected through a graphical user interface(GUI) -
Java
When Java was first created by Sun Microsystems, it was named Oak. The intention was that it was only for cable boxes and hand-held devices but it was later innovated to be used for the World Wide Web. Impressively Java is everywhere to smartphones to computers. -
PHP
Rasmus Lerdorf, creator of PHP. PHP was used for web development and run on web servers. Personal Home Page was used by Lerdorf to manage his own information online, now it is used to build websites and blogs. -
JavaScript
Created in only 10 days, Brendan Eich used this web to enhance web browser's interactions. Mostly every website uses JavaScript. -
Delphi
Delphi is a high-level and strongly typed language. Supporting object-oriented designs, Delphi is based on PASCAL's language. Delphi evolved from a Pascal to a RAD language that can help you solve complex development problems to deliver high-performance, highly scalable applications ranging from desktop and applications to mobile and the Internet
