Month 3
- The baby is now about 1 inch long.
- The nostrils, mouth, lips, teeth buds, and eyelids have begun to form.
- The fingers and toes are almost complete.
- All of the organs are present now, although immature.

- breasts become firmer and fuller, may ache
- nausea, fatigue, and frequent urination may continue
- abdomen becomes slightly larger. the uterus is about the size of an orange.

Month 4
- The baby is now about 3 inches long and 1 ounce.
- The baby can now suck its thumb, swallow, hiccup and move around.
- The baby's facial features are becoming clearer.

- most discomforts of early pregnancy, such as morning sickness, usually gone

- The baby is now 6 1/2 to 7 inches long, weighing about 4 to 5 ounces.
- The baby's hair, eyelashes, and eyebrows are appearing.
- The baby's teeth are continuing to develop.
- The baby's organs are maturing.
- The baby is becoming more active.

Month 6
- The baby is about 8 to 10 inches long and 8 to 12 ounces.
- The fat is depositing under skin, but will appear wrinkled.
- The breathing movements have begun.

- fetal movements sensed as strong kicks, thumps, and bumps. some may be visible
- weight gain may be the beginning of this month may total 10-12 pounds

Month 7
- The baby is about 10 to 12 inches long and 1 1/2 to 2 pounds
- The periods of activity followed by periods of rest and quiet.

Month 8
- The baby is 14 to 16 inches long and 2 1/2 to 3 pounds.
- The weight gain is continuing rapidly.
- The baby may react to loud noices with a reflex jerking action.
- The baby is moving into a head-down position.

- discomfort may result from increased size. backache, leg cramps, shortless of breath, and fatigue are common
- fetal kicks may disturb the mother's rest
- at the beginning of this month, weight gain totals about 18-20 pounds

Month 9
- The baby is 17 to 18 inches long and weighs 5 to 6 pounds.
- The weight gain continues until the week before birth.
- The skin becomes smooth as fat deposits continue.
- The movements decrease as the fetus has less room to move around.
- The baby aquires disease-fighting antibodies from the mother's blood.
- The baby will descend into pelvis, ready for birth.

- "lightening" felt as the fetus drops into the pelvis. breathing becomes easier
- other discomforts may continue
- a total weight gain of 25-35 pounds
