Pregnancy Breakdown

  • Month 4

    The fetus can suck its thumb, swallow, hiccup, and move around in the belly. Facial features become more clear. The fetus is about 3 inches long at this time.
  • Month 5

    Hair starts to appear on the fetus. Teeth are still developing. Organs become more and more mature. The baby is about 7 inches and is very active at this stage.
  • Month 6

    The fetus is 8-10 inches and weighs about 8-12 ounces. Breathing movement start to begin.
  • Month 7

    Periods of activity and rest are present. The fetus is about 10-12 inches and weighs about 2 lbs.
  • Month 8

    Fetus continues to gain weight. Reacts to loud noises with reflexes. About 14-16 inches long and moves into the head-down position.
  • Month 9

    Weight gain continues. The skin becomes smooth. Fetus continues to move, but doesn't have much room to move. At this time, the fetus is about 17-18 inches and is ready for birth.
  • Month 1

    The egg attaches itself to the lining of the uterus.
    In this stage, the brain and spinal cord begin to develop and the heart begins to beat. The baby is about the size of a pi head.
  • Month 2

    Face, eyes, ears, and limbs take their shape. Their bones also begin to form. It is about 1/4 of an inch.
  • Month 3

    Fingers and toes are almost complete. Mouth, lips, and eyelids form. All of its organs are present, but are still immature. It is about 1 inch long.
