pregnancy

  • week 7-10

    All of the babies major organs are formed. The face and brain are growing. the heart has 4 chambers, and the lungs, are formed. Later all body parts are formed and recognizable. the baby is now 1 1/4 inch long.
  • week 11-16

    the baby now has nails, a facial profile, and intestines. now in the 2nd trimester, the baby can urinate, its sex is apparent, and it is 4 1/2 inches and 4 ounces.
  • week 17-21

    The baby is now able to have a regular sleep and wake pattern, all of its organs are formed. It is covered in lanugo, and is 6 1/3 inches long, and weighs 11 ounces.
  • week 22-27

    at this time the baby has fingerprints, eyebrows, laashes, and nails. Now you can hear the heartbeat with a stethoscope. at this point the baby is at the lowest point of viability. It is 7 1/2 inches and 1 pound.
  • week 28-32

    at this time the third trimester is starting. Not much happens during this time except for the loss of the lanugo.
  • week 33-27

    The baby is still growing during this time, and in the first two weeks it is 12 inches and 4 and 1/2 pounds. the nails and toenails are growing, The skin is pink, and the child responds to light. During the next two weeks, The baby takes up most of the amniotic sac. The baby is now turned over in preparation for labor. In this time the baby is about .6 pounds, and 13 1/2 inches.
  • week 38-40

    The brain, lungs, and liver are developed. Having the lungs develop in the last few weeks helps to prevent complications during birth. by week 39 the baby is full term, and ready for delivery.
  • week 3-6

    This is the first few weeks after conception. During this time the blastocyst is formed, , and becomes an embryo on week 4. Later on the spinal cord and brain forms, along with its organs. The heart also starts beating regularly. around week 6 is the most rapid stage of development, and a baby could be up to 1 ton if it continued at this pace.
