Colonies Creating Slavery
Massachusetts becomes the first colony to make slavery a law. -
Forbiding
The State of Virginia disarms all slaves and prohibit all blacks to be in large groups. Virginia also gives harsh punishment for the runaway slaves and black who do not follow the laws. -
Connecticut
Connecticut establish a punishment of whipping and hitting any slaves that don't obey laws or be disrespectful to the peace. -
Slave Revolt
Slaves in the city of New York murder whites and get caught by the colonies militia. Later on all 19 of the rebels are executed. -

The First Continental Congress bans trade Britain and order that they will end slave trade. -
Federick Douglass
Federick Douglass's Newspaper Escaped begins publishing the North Star in Rochester, New York. -
Harriet Tubman
Harriet Tubman escapes from her plantation, and after doing so returns more than 15 times to help slaves escape. -
Dred Scott
Dred Scott gets trialed at the US Supreme Court and is over ruled 7 to 2 that blacks are property and could never be citizens. -
Emancipation Proclamation
The Emancipation Proclamation is signed by President Lincoln and all slaves that are in rebel territory are free. -
Slavery Abolished
The 13th Amendment in the US Constitution outlaws slavery.
