    Mayflower was the ship that pilgrims embarked, and they came to Plymouth to separate from the English Church. After writing the Mayflower compact, which is the first document of self government in the New World, they finally landed at Plymouth Rock.

    Pennsylvania was founded by William Penn in 1681, and the Quakers settled in Pennsylvania. The major city of Pennsylvania is Philadelphia, and Pennsylvania growed up to one of the most famous, and popular cities in America.

    The French and Indian war occurred because the British thought they had to prevent the French from gaining control of territories like Ohio Valley which provided a road for fur trades. And then the war began, and the allies of the British and the allies of French stood for them and attacked, and the war ended with the British's conquest of the whole land of French.

    The sugar act is a new act that taxed sugar and molasses that were imported in colonies. This sugar act was not applied to colonists, merchants needed to pay tax on the sugar and molasses to bring it to America. So as a result, there were many smuggled molasses into the colonies.

    The Currency act is an act that regulated the currency and they were made to protect British merchants from depreciating of currency. This banned colonists from printing money so it was good for the British, but it was bad for colonies because they had to spend a lot of money.

    England wanted to pay their troops in the colonies, so they passed the Stamp Act. It put a tax on papers, documents, and other stuff. If the colonists didn’t pay, they were punished unfairly without a jury. The colonists hated this act. For them, it was an example of “taxation without representation.”

    Parliament passed this act to take care of the British soldiers. England sent more soldiers to America, so they wanted colonists to provide quarters, meals, and take care of soldiers. To follow this act, it cost a lot of money, so it was very onerous for colonists.

    The Townshend Revenue Act
    The Townshend act was made because the British thought the colonists cost their protection of the British. The Townshend Revenue Act taxed goods such as glass, paint, and tea. And they used a document, writs of assistance, which allowed officials to inspect ships or buildings and the purpose was finding some smuggled goods, but they were allowed to enter there with any reason.

    The Boston Massacre happened because colonists were very angry at many unfair acts of the British such as Sugar acts, and Townshend acts, but the British just ignored these protests. March 5, 1770, the small argument between some colonists and British soldiers changed to street fighting and the colonists threw snowballs, and stones.

    The Boston Tea Party began because the American colonists were angry with the Tea act of 1773, which rotted a lot of tea leaves, and saved the British East India Company from doing tea trade exclusively. So the colonists were angry and “No taxation without representation” was made. The Sons of Liberty and Samuel Adams threw the teas to water and dressed up like Indians.

    The first continental congress was held at Carpenters' Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 12 representatives of 13 colonies in America gathered. They met to think about resistance to Britain's oppressive actions and they concluded the agreement that they will boycott Britain's goods.

    Patrick Henry’s “Give me Liberty or give me Death” speech
    Patrick Henry’s speech took place at the Second Virginia Convention. Patrick Henry gave this speech because he thought colonies have to be released from England and he wanted to revolt from English. The British ignored the petition that the First Continental congress sent. He claimed they have to make a militia, and they have to gather their powers and fight against Britain.

    The purpose of the ride of Paul Revere was to warn Samuel Adams and John Hancock. The British troops are sent to arrest the two men, but Paul Revere ,who is in Sons of liberty with two men, made two routes to get to Lexington, where the two men stayed, and two riders, Paul Revere and William Dawes went to Lexington to warn the two men.
    He told the patriots to hide their weapons in Concord and warned Samuel Adams and John Hancock that British troops were coming.
  • The Second Continental Congress

    The second continental was held at Pennsylvania, and the 12 representatives of colonies met again. The purpose of the congress was the same as the first congress, but this time, they planned to start to declare independence from the British. The congress changed like a government. They started to make armies, appoint diplomats, etc.

    George Washington named Commander in Chief
    George Washington was named commander in chief at the continental congress. Because he fought in the French and Indian war, stood for the British, so George Washington was named commander in chief. George Washington trained continental army despite many troubles and finally won the victory in 1781.
