French & Indian War
The French Indin War was between Franch Britain and several other major euopean powers and the fighing ranged from Erupoe, India and even to the new world. Britain eventually won the war but they had lost so much money that the government itself nearly fell apart. Their solution was that the colonies pay extra taxes to pay off the debt thus ending a period of Salutary Neglect for the colonists. -
Treaty of Paris

Sugar Act
The Sugar Act was the first revenue tax to be placed on the colonists and it's purpose was to pay for the French Indian War. Many colonists agreed to stop buying British luxuious imports like Samuel Adams and James Otis.

Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was the first direct tax on the Colonsits by Britian. Until now the mercantilist British only enforced taxes on certain products that would not effect all of the colonsists. The act was eventually boycotted and repealed on March 17 1776. -

The Boston Massacre

The British are taxing the colonists and have little authority over them because they are so far away. This was the British responce to the revoking of the Townshend Acts.
