    Birth of Napoleon
    Napoleon was born on August 15, 1769, in Ajaccio, Corsica. He was born shortly after the island was given to france by Genoa. Napoleon was the second surviving child out of four. Napoleon wasn’t even born in france. His original name was Napoleone Buonaparte. But changed it to Napoleon Bonaparte, the french version. Napoleon was sent of to military school at the age of nine.

    Napoleon Becomes a general in the French army
    In March of 1795 he was sent to La Vendée. Napoleon was in command the artillery of the Army of the West. Napoleon wanted to leave but decided to stay hoping he could seize power in Paris. He was then placed in second command of the troops in Paris and they shot many royalists who were trying to stop the National Convention. After this he was considered a savior and was named commander of the army of the interior and an adviser to the Directory.

    The franch Army invaded Italy in the spring of 1796. The army was led by Napoleon Bonaparte, at age 28 the youngest general in the french army. Napoleon knew that Italy would be his push to greater things. He motivated his soldiers in Italy toward fertile plains and cities of Lombardy that was nearby.

    In 1798 Napoleon was ready to conquer Egypt, He took 167 savants with him. Some of the savants traveled on the same ship as him to Egypt. They had dinner with him and talked about debates on topics Napoleon picked. The savants traveled all over Egypt from the pyramids to the flora, fauna, and many more.

    Many attempts were made on Napoleon's life but there isn’t a specific number. In december 1800 First Consul Napoleon had a bomb attempt on his life on a paris street. Minister of Police Joseph Fouche found out that it was a group of fanatic royalists. In 1809 Napoleon was attacked by an 18 year-old Austrian. He tried to stab him after Napoleon’s victory at wagram. There were many assassination attempts on Napoleon’s life.

    The concordat was between Pope Pius Vll and Napoleon. Napoleon recognized the Catholic faith as the religion of the majority of the French people. Napoleon proclaimed the conscience. Napoleon Secured the right to appoint bishops. The church left its claims to taken ecclesiastical lands. Clergy were paid by the government and the pope had control of the Papal States.

    Since Napoleon was emperor of france he had active participation. The first Civil Code of france was made on march 21, 1804. It consists of three books, dealing with persons, goods and the various kinds of property, and various modes in which property is acquired.

    Battle of Trafalgar
    A few years before the invasion of Spain precipitated the Peninsular War, Spain and France were still allies. They undertook to get rid of the english naval Defenders so Napoleon could overrun the British Isles. In Early 1805 a combined fleet under the french admiral Federico Gravina was forced to draw off the main British force by feigning a transatlantic expedition. Napoleon was furiously dismissed Villeneuve. The two forces met near the Spanish coast by Cape Trafalgar.

    In 1806 Napoleon ordered his Berlin Decrees that all continental ports closed British ships. The British went against this in 1807 and closed the ports of France and that their allies were closed. The Latter point was the cause of the war of 1812. The British navy eventually broke the system.

    In the middle of his reign Napoleon convened the Sanhedrin, a body of 26 French Jewish lay leaders and 45 rabbis. It met in paris from february 9 through march 9 1807. With its 71 members the body was meant to evoke the great sanhedrin that was active during the Roman periods.

    Typhus, Dysentery, and many other diseases killed many soldiers in Napoleons army in 1812 and early 1813. Russia was a failure due to starvation and extreme winter cold. Napoleon was very ambitious to go to Russia, but the winter was stopping him from taking over Russia. The Campaign began in early June. Napoleon's troops advanced form France all the way to Russia. Many soldiers died throughout the process of this campaign and it was one of the worst decisions napoleon has made.
  • Elba

    Elba
    Elba is located on the coast of southern Tuscany. After Leipzig the government decided to send napoleon away to and island called Elba. It wasn't that far from France but they exilled him for a while. Louis XVI came back to power and the people of France were furios. Napoleon escaped from Elba and returned to France as a savior.
  • Defeat at Battle of Leipzig

    This was one of the largest battles if the napoleonic wars. This loss ended his empire in Germany and Poland. After his defeat in Russia Napoleon was rebuilding his army. During this Battle Napoleon had a great number of casualties. The french lost 38,000 men. It was three days of fighting around the city. Napoleon was successful at first but then the battle turned when the allied reinforcements arrived under Jean Bernadotte and General Bennigsen.
  • St.Helena

    St.Helena
    After being crushed at waterloo. He was exiled to the island of St.Helena, where he was kept prisoner. Napoleon wrote memoirs as his health was becoming bad.
  • Waterloo

    Waterloo
    This battle was one of the most famous in history warfare. It was the final battle that ended it all. (the Napoleonic era) The battle happened after napoleon escaped Elba and rallied a bunch of french people, organizing an army of 280,000 men. Napoleon moved his forces into the low countries to engage Lord Wellington and the Prussian General. The battle was a day long a quarter-mile from Waterloo. The french army lost and Napoleon was abdicated four days afterward.

    Suffering from cancer of the stomach, Napoleon Bonaparte died on St.Helena on May 5 1821. His remains were buried first, but in 1840 they were taken to France and put in the Invalides in Paris next to his son
