    Dual Alliance was between Germany and Austria Hungray. Bismarck created the alliance, he was stressed out because France was the greatest threat to peace. He thought France would take revenage for its defeat in the Franco-Prussian War.
    This is an important cause to WW1 because the alliance system had been designed to keep peace in Europe it also led to the triple allience. Nationalism is patriotic feeling, principles, or efforts.

    When Wilhelm let his nation’s treaty with Russia lapse. Russia responded by forming a defensive military alliance with France. This allience made Bismarck scared. This is an important event to WW1 because war with either Russia or France would make Germany the enemy of both. Germany would then be forced to fight a two-front war, or a war on both its eastern and western borders.

    Britain made another entente, this time with both France and Russia. Britian did this because they were shocked about Wilhelm shipbuilding program. The Triple Entente, as it was called, did not bind Britain to fight with France and Russia. It ensured that Britian would not fight against them. This was an important cause to WW1 because the triple entente and the triple allience could cause all the nations of Europe into war.

    Austria annexed, or took over, Bosnia and Herzegovina. These were two Balkan areas with large Slavic popula- tions. Serbian leaders, who had fought to rule these provinces, were outraged. The next years there was tensions between Serbia and Austria and it slowly became worse.
    This is an important cause of WW1 because the way Serbia and Austria acted towards each other got people attention
    causing war.

    The Assassination of Archduke Ferdinand
    Archduke Ferdinand was shot when he was riding through the streets of Sarajevo in an open car. The killer was Gavrilo Princip, a 19-year-old Serbian and mem- ber of the Black Hand. The Black Hand was was a secret society committed to ridding Bosnia of Austrian rule.
    This is an important event to WW1 becuase Austria refused the ultimatum of Serbia and Austria declared war. Then leaders all of Europe took notice.

    Leaders all over Europe suddenly took notice of Austria and Serbia. They told them to stop but it was too late they were in war. Russia, Serbia’s ally, began moving its army toward the Russian-Austrian border. Expecting Germany to join Austria, Russia also mobilized along the German border. To Germany, Russia’s mobi- lization amounted to a declaration of war.
