On October 1 1958 the President created NASA. This was pressured into existence by the Cold War, and the Soviets space shuttle "Sputnik". On January 31st America Launched its first Earth Satellite. -

The Cuban missile crisis was when the Soviets decided to move their nuclear missiles into Cuba. The United States decided that if the Soviets got to close they would declare nuclear war on the United States. This would have started a World War Three but the Soviets withdrew the missiles. -

The nuclear test ban treaty is a law that would ban all nuclear testing. It was created by the United Nations in 1996 but is still not in effect to this date. -

President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Economic Opportunity Act in 1964. This Law was designed to eliminate poverty. It created local programs, funded by the government to help people rise out of poverty. -
Miranda vs. Arizona
