World War I begins as Austria declares war of Serbia

Mustafa Kemal transforms Turkey into Republic

Using western strategies, Mustafa Kemal turned Turkey into a repulic. He later became known as Attaturk which means "Father of the Turks."

MaoZedong heads Long March
