    Indian citizens began to dislike the British Empire ruling them as they desired their own land and equal citizenship. Through Nationalist leaders rallying Indians for Independen rule and nonviolent resistence they successfully gained their independence.
  • Creation of Isreal

    Creation of Isreal
    The United Nations created the State of Israel. The creation of Isreal created anger amoungst the Arabs and Jews. To this day the war over the land is still being fought between the two.
  • Berlin Airlift

    Berlin Airlift
    The Berlin Airlift began on April 1, 1948 and ended on May 12, 1949. The Airlift was begun after the Soviet Union cut off all ways of getting supplies to West Berlin in hopes that the Allied forces would give up West Berlin. Fun fact- a U.S. or British plane would land every three minutes during the blockade!

    NATO was made up of 12 nations, including the U.S. and Canada. It was formed due to fear of Soviet agression.

    When Israel began to believe the Arabs were preparing for war the decided to strike first. The Israel's launched an attack into Egpyt's Sinai peninsula.

    The Soviets were the first to launch an unmanned satellite-Sputnik. In response, the United States purs money into science education. In 1958 the United States launches a unmanned satellite as well.
  • Cuban Missile Crisis

    When a U.S. spy plan spots Soviet missiles in Cuba it sends a sense of panic. The U.S. demand for their removal and use blockades as a show of force against the Soviets. The Soviets agree to remove the missiles if the U.S. agreed not to invade Cuba and (secretly) remove its missles from Turkey.

    President Sadat was the third President of Egypt, he was the president from October 15, 1970 until he was assassinated on October 6, 1981 by Muslim extremeist.
  • Tiananmen Square protest

    Tiananmen Square protest
    The Tiananmen Square protest was due do students petition to meet with the Premier Li Peng being ignored. The stuents protested nonviolently-for example- the used hunger strike as a form of protest. It ended in a massacre of the protestors.
