  • Agricultural Revolution

    Agricultural Revolution
The Agricultural Revolution was a time when there was a lot of technological improvements and the food/crop richness. The farming technology produced more food in a area of land with less people needed to work/labor. The increased agricultural production of the 18th century took place because of the availability of farmland, climate, livestock and improved crop yield.
  • Industrial Revolution

    Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution was the switch/transition from old methods to new manufacturing processes. This switch/transition included: hand production methods to machines, chemical manufacturing, iron productions, increased use of steam power, better-developed machine tools and factory systems. This made our lives way easier!
  • Vaccination (Smallpox)

    Vaccination (Smallpox)
The vaccine curing smallpox was invented by Edward Jenner, an English physician, in 1796. He inoculated a 13-year-old boy with a vaccinia virus which proved to produce immunity to smallpox and in 1798 the first vaccine preventing smallpox was developed. To this day vaccines help humans produce immunity to any specific disease that humans have found a cure to. This way humans can become stronger against germs.
  • Steam Locomotive

    Steam Locomotive
The first Steam Locomotives was made by Richard Trevithick. It was used to pull goods like 10 tonnes of iron ore over 9 miles of leveled track and had an average speed of 10 kilometers per hour. The Steam Locomotives produces its pulling power by burning combustible material; usually coal, wood or oil, then produces steam by heating up the water inside of the boiler. This invention made it a lot easier for humans to transport goods and move to places efficiently.
  • Sewage Systems (United States)

    Sewage Systems (United States)
Humans needed sewage systems to separate clean freshwater and wastewater to prevent waterborne diseases such as; Cholera and Typhoid. The first sewage systems built in the United States were in the late 1850s in Chicago and Brooklyn. The first sewage treatment plant that used chemical precipitation was during 1890 in Worcester, Massachusetts. The sewage systems helped humans to develop all around the world and prevented humans from getting diseases!
  • Octopus Furnace

    Octopus Furnace
When the first octopus furnace was invented there were no electricity or fans to move the air, so the furnaces transported warmth by natural convection, the heated air weighs less than the cold air, therefore, it rises from the basement to the rooms above. This way humans can keep warm and not catch colds!
  • Antibiotics (Penicillin)

    Antibiotics (Penicillin)
Penicillin was discovered in 1928 by Alexander Fleming, Professor of Bacteriology at St.Mary's Hospital in London. Unfortunately, it took over a decade for penicillin to be introduced as a treatment for infections. Penicillin is an antibiotic produced by some blue moulds. Blue moulds are a blueish fungus that grows on food. Antibiotics are the medicine that can destroy or slow the growth to bacteria!
  • Birth Control Pills

    Birth Control Pills
In 1961 a reliable and convenient oral birth control pill was available on the National Health Service. When the oral pill was introduced, it could only be prescribed to women that were married. Until 1967 this didn't change. The birth control pill worked by giving the body extra hormones to prevent ovulation. This way the fertility rates can drop lower and women can stop giving birth unwantedly!
