Ana is a child of a poor and problematic family. She doesn't get along with her family. -

She is jealous of her friends who are very rich and have very expensive clothes and apparel. Her friends, also show their new clothing off. -

Chapter 2 Event 1
Ana goes to school. However, she loses her book. Her family doesn't help her because they are very busy. -
Chapter 2 Event 2
While at school, one of her teachers, Senora Borda, announces a chance to go on a trip to Mexico. It will be school paid. After some confusion her dad agrees to let her go. -
Chapter 3 Event 1
Ana is sad to leave her family and goes onto her plane headed to Mexico. She is also warned by her teacher that Mexico is a very different place. -
Chapter 3 Event 2
Ana arrives in Mexico and meets Jose,Susanna, Juana, and members of the family she is staying with. She likes Mexico. -
Chapter 4 Event 1
Ana,Susanna, and Juana walk around the general area and talk about boys and boyfriends. She is happy there, and continues to like and learn about Mexico. -
Chapter 4 Event 2
She tries a taco, and like. It is very different than the food that she usually eats in California. -
Chapter 5 Event 1
Ana heads over to a gym. She meets Patricia there and they become friends. -
Chapter 5 Event 2
Ana goes over to Patricia's house. While there, they talk about their interests. They both like music and dance and other things in common. They become good friends. -
Chapter 6 Event 1
Ana and Patricia go to a dance. Ana meets Ricardo. They start talking and dancing. They realize that they both have many problems. -
Chapter 6 Event 2
They continue to talk about their problems. Ricardo has a big family in a small house. -
Chapter 7 Event 1
Ana leaves Mexico and heads back to the USA. She is sad to leave,but want to see her family. She and Ricardo agree to write to each other. The family she stayed with in Mexico is also sad to see her leave. -
Chapter 7 Event 2
Ana is happy to be back home, but is sad not to be in Mexico. -
Chapter 8 Event 1
When Ana returns home, she sees things in a different light. She compares her expieriences and regards her house as very big. She also recives a lettter from Ricardo about how things are going in Mexico. -
Chapter 8 Event 2
Ana writes back to RIcardo. She is writing about how lucky she is in California. She is very content and happ. -
Chapter 9 Event 1
Ana talks to Paul, the student president leader, about sending things to Mexico during the school dance. They will use clothes to get in rather than money. -
Chapter 9 Event 2
Her plan is successful, and she gets lots of clothes. They then send them to Mexico. Ana is very content now.
