    Dress Over My Lifespan

This is a photo journal of my past, present, future dress.
  • Me at 4 years old

    Me at 4 years old
In this picture I was four years old and at that time my mom was a single mom,we lived in a very scary part of town and lived off food stamps. I am wearing this outfit from a thrift store or it's all hand-me-downs. This outfit definately says something about how my family was living at the time. It also reflects the season of spring.
  • Me at 10 years old

    Me at 10 years old
When I was 10 I was very self-conscious about my legs, so I always wore skirts that were really long. I was also going through a lot of body changes that made me really awkward and I started liking older/ more mature clothes. My mom was once again a single mother with three kids now and it was tight so often I borrowed my mom's clothes.
  • Present Day Me

    Present Day Me
This part of my life has really been influenced by my friends and my boyfriend. I have a very conservative boyfriend and he would complain about me wearing pants and 'tight' clothes. So today I mostly wear skirts and dresses and as I continue to do so I feel more confident and in control. Most of my outfits and dresses are very colorful and have interesting patterens and I think this says a lot about my personality; I'm mature but still playful
  • Future Wedding Me

    Future Wedding Me
I picked this dress because I have a dream of getting married in the winter time so with cold weather comes long sleeves. I also love the bodice that will show my shape. Getting married to me in a traditional way with a big white dress is important to me because my mom was married many times and never got a big ceremony or white dress. I want this to be a day that I remember and cherish. I want marriage to be because it is a symbol of love and commitment that you share with all your loved ones.
  • Future Teacher/ School Counselour Me

    Future Teacher/ School Counselour Me
I aspire to be a teacher and then a school counselor, so by this point hopefully I have my wardrobe pulled together. I think as a teacher I want to look professional as FCS is a lot about career paths; I want to set an example. As a counselor this type of wardrobe is needed because it is a more professional role. I will build my wardrobe with basics like these to maximize use. My personality will come out with shoes and accessories.
