    King Philip's War starts in New England between colonists and Native Americans as a result of tensions over land. It starts along the Connecticut River valley in Massachusetts and in the Plymouth and Rhode Island colonies. Metacom is the Native American general. He is called King Philip by the colonists. In a swamp in Rhode Island, he is killed, ending the war in southern New England and ending the independent power of Native Americans there.

    Charles XII of Sweden is killed in the invasion of Norway, which didn't help his advances what so ever. Russia regains its land. After having worries about Russia expanding beyond it's borders, the rest of Europe made Russia sign four treaties from 1719-1721. Russia signs a treaty with Sweden to finally end the war.     Peter the Great died and the cause of death is not clear. Some signs said that his kidneys failed him. Some signs show that he had an infection of the bladder. Others say that he dove into a frozen lake to save some drowning soldiers. None the less, Peter the Great died without an heir, after executing his first son for treason. (Blumberg 235)
