The MRTA
In 1996 the terrorist group known as MRTA took hundreds of people hostage including military personnel, diplomats, and the Japanese Ambassador, in 1997 the Peruvian army mounted a raid where the MRTA were holding the hostages killing 14 of its members which crippled the organization and all the hostages were freed.
