  • I was born

    The world was graced with my presence on this fine day. The birds were singing, the sun was shining; it really was a great time. I was born in Long Beach.
  • Hurricane Katrina

    Hurricane Katrina was a devastating category 5 hurricane that hit Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana. It resulted in about $100 billion in damage. It flooded the city of New Orleans, displacing people from their homes.

  • I met my best friend of 12 years

    I remember meeting my best friend of 12 years, Sarah, in kindergarten. We were both shy and had no one to play with; finally, Sarah came up to me and asked me if I wanted to play. We played 'Pirates' where we just acted like pirates. We've grown up through all of our ideas and phases together.   • Apple iPhone

    The iPhone quickly became a worldwide phenomenon. This revolutionized the cell phone, making it easier to use. iPhones have become synonymous to cell phones.
  • Nancy Pelosi became the first female Speaker of the House

    As the Speaker of the House, Pelosi became the first women that close to the presidency (2nd in line after the vice president). She helped get votes for Obama's Affordable Health Care Act. This is an amazing achievement for women in politics.
  • Great Recession

    There was an economic recession that was brought on by high-risk loans in real estate. The Great Recession devastated the global economy greatly hurt the jobs and livelihoods of Americans. Personally, I don't remember any of the effects of the Great Recession, but I guess that's because I was 6.
  • 2008 Election

    I was in kindergarten during the presidential campaigns for the election. I remember my teacher openly supporting the idea of a woman president (Hillary). Barack Obama won the 2008 election becoming the first African American president.
  • I performed on stage for the first time

    In third grade, my friend group decided to come up with a skit for our school's talent show. We performed a Charlie Brown skit, and I was the little red-haired girl. I don't really talk to those kids anymore, but I worked with Louie, who played Charlie Brown/ director, on some film projects last year.
  • Osama Bin Laden was killed

    Osama Bin Laden, the leader of the terrorist group al-Qaeda, was killed by a US special warfare operator. I was nine at this time, I remember there was a group of kids playing US vs. Terrorists (like cowboys vs. Indians). The kids danced while chanting about Osama's death.
  • My first student of the month

    In sixth grade, I earned a student of the month from my typing class. I had the highest words per minute score out of every other student that took that class that quarter. This gave me a lot of confidence in my typing skills, and it made me a prouder student.
  • Legalization of Same-Sex Marriage

    The Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage in all 50 states. Some states like Massachusetts and California already legalized same-sex marriage, yet the supreme court decision eliminated all state bans on it. I remember watching a Modern Family episode on it.   • I decided to take video production

    I decided to take Video Production sophomore year based off of a joke I had with my friend from a Portlandia episode about a wedding videographer with a shaky cam. I'm so glad that I decided to take this class because I absolutely fell in love with film. I now want to major in film production.
  • I moved up in choir

    For my first two years of high school, I was in the novice women's choir. I liked it well enough, but I wanted to move up so bad. I finally moved up into Xquisite, the intermediate women's choir, and I love it so much!! I plan to stay in it next year, hopefully as a leader.
  • I became president of Literary Alliance Club.

    I joined the Literary Alliance Club with my friends sophomore year. Once applications for board positions opened up for the following year, I became worried because all of my friends and I wanted to be the president. In my application, I talked about how I planned to keep it as a chill club and that it will be in good hands. I got it! I am now the proud president of Literary Alliance Club.
  • I got into ASB!

    After many signatures, recommendations, essay responses, an interview, and a lot of waiting, I finally saw the list for ASB 2019-20. I got in! I am going to be a technology commissioner next year. I'll be taking videos and making edits of school dances, sports, and performances.
  • Mueller Report Released

    The Mueller Report is an FBI report that was conducted on President Trump's political dealings. It found no evidence of Trump's collusion with Russia. It also touched upon Russian rigging of the 2016 US election.
