  • 3DS

I was gifted a Nintendo 3DS to replace my old DS Lite. The 3DS had an incredibly strong library just like the DS, and capitalized on experimental features like Streetpass. I've had them stolen and broken over time, but I've always really enjoyed what the 3DS has to offer, even to this day.
  • Nokia Windows Phone

I got a Nokia Lumia 930 as my first smartphone. I didn't know any better at the time, but this phone ran on the doomed "Windows Phone" OS. I could really feel the issues - most of the apps that I wanted on the phone weren't even there, but I learned how to circumvent the parental controls on my phone and browse imageboards.
  • iPhone 5S

After much cajoling, my mom purchased me an iPhone 5S, still dated at the time and locked up like Fort Knox. However, I was able to find some apps to kill time. The one particular thing I remember really disliking about the phone was that the phone slowed down with every update, and I had no way to block new ones. Eventually we would all learn about the planned software obsolescence built into Apple products, but I was a bit suspicious even then.
  • Nintendo Switch

I was able to get the launch model of the Nintendo Switch. My mom had to hunt down a scalper and purchase it from them at a premium. I had a lot of fun playing Breath of the Wild and Mario Odyssey. The Switch had a very strong release, though it now struggles to justify itself...
  • Personal Computer

I assembled my PC and now use to play MMOs and, well, type out my homework like I'm doing now. I have a laptop, but it was only purchased because my mom insisted I need one, and I use it only for emergencies when I can't use my PC or for experimenting with Linux. I spend a LOT of time on my PC. That being said, I love using my PC, and I worked hard to save up the money to buy it. It really feels like a part of my life now.
