Birth
Description: I was born on November 7, 2005 at 7:11pm in Richmond, VA.
Significance: This would be the starting point of all other events in my life. -
First Day of School
Description: I have a late birthday (according to Henrico County), so I started school as I was turning 6 in kindergarten. I was a bit older than many of my classmates.
Significance: I had the same teacher for kindergarten and first grade, and she helped to grow my love of learning new things. -
Recognized As Gifted
Description: In first grade, I was recognized as gifted along with a few other kids, where we were pulled out of class once a week to continue to develop our skills.
Significance: This extra development would further lead me to apply for the IB program for middle school and start my school career of taking advanced classes. -
Going to Middle School
Description: I got accepted into the IB program at Fairfield Middle School.
Significance: Middle school was a huge shift in my life and mental health. I had a hard time adjusting to the environment, classes, and people, which took a toll on my mental health. -
8th Grade Pandemic
Description: During March of 8th grade year, the pandemic broke out and we would be navigating the world from inside our homes for the next year and a half.
Significance: This time of quarantine quite literally saved my life. I think having time to slow things down in my life significantly helped my mental situation and stopped me from doing something permanent. -
Going Back to School in 10th Grade
Description: HCPS decided kids would go back to school full-time during for my sophomore year.
Significance: During this year, I would learn that pursuing the IB Diploma was something I no longer wanted to do (due to a variety of events that happened during my sophomore year). This would encourage me to pursue the IB Career Program. -
My Sister's Breakdown
Description: In early October, my parents and I got news that my sister was in the emergency room experiencing symptoms of a stroke. During this time, the symptoms worsened and progressed fast.
Significance: This would be the catalyst of my own mental breakdown. I made lot of changes in my life (decreasing my school load for junior year, building a support system outside of my family, and started going to therapy regularly) to prevent myself from ever getting a point like that. -
Joining Mock Trial
Description: I was convinced a few of my friends to join Mock Trial in junior year. I ended up making the team and went to both regionals and states last year.
Significance: Mock Trial would end up taking up a lot of my time in and out of school, which helped my time management skills. I would also end up meeting lots of new people and developing my public speaking skills, which has helped with my overall confidence. -
Getting My First Job
Description: After sophomore year, I got a job at Starbucks. I would be working at a brand new store that would open in July of that year.
Significance: This job would force me to socialize and get me out of the house for the summer. It would also help me make money for things I wanted to buy. I also met my manager here (who is stress-inducing). -
Future Event: Pursuing Higher Education
Description: By this point, I will have hoped to finish college undergrad, and either continuing with a masters or doctorate, or going into a field of work.
Importance/Now: This matters to me because I know that I want to go to college but not where or for what just yet. Hopefully by this time in 2028, I will know what I want to do next. In order to make this happen, I will need to graduate high school and get accepted into college. -
Future Event: Being Content With My Life
Description: 10 years from now, I want to be happy with my life. I would like to own a house, travel the world, have a stable job/income that I enjoy, and overall be a well-rounded person.
Importance/Now: This is important to me because I want to be satisfied and fulfilled with the life I choose to pursue down the line. I don't want to build/continue to build a life I'm not happy with. In order to make this happen, I need to make decisions to please myself, not others.
