    Columbine Shooting
    The Columbine shooting is when two student, Dylan and Eric, went into school and killed many people inside of the building. 11 students and 1 teacher was murdered and 21 were injured. After what they realized what they did was wrong they ended up committing suicide. This event shaped the world I live in because after this had happened it made everything a lot more serious and strict. For example, some schools started doing backpack and locker checks, security was added to schools and much more.

  • Being at Grandparents House

    Being at Grandparents House
    Being at my grandparents house is when I was able to spend time with them. They became my babysitters and took care of me until my mom or dad came back home from work. This event has shaped who I have become because this is where I learned to share, play with other kids and make friends, and learned my manners. It's also where I started to learn as I got older that they aren't going to be here forever. For me to have been there everyday is when I need to really enjoy it and make the most of it.

    When the first iPhone was released it was the start of booming technology. This event shaped the world I live in because nowadays this is all people are involved in. They only care about their phones, iPads and computers. With this there is also social media. Kids don't even want to go outside anymore and play outside. We are just all worried about our social media status or playing video games. This was the start of something that is turning into an issue and and even bigger one today.

    Elementary school is where you go to a school from kindergarten until sixth grade. You lose kids but get new kids all through those years. This event has shaped who I have become because this is where I got to meet new people and become friends with them, start my education and start to become organized. Elementary is where you could potentially meet your best friends. For me, some of these people I met are still in my life today and did become my best friends that I can always rely on.

    Barack Obama becomes the first African-American President and takes office
    Barack Obama being the first African-American president in the U.S. is a huge accomplishment. He was the 44th and 45th president. This event shaped the world I live in because with him becoming the first African-American it raised the hopes for everyone that race relationships in the U.S. would improve especially among the other black voters. Also during his presidency is that he started the Black Lives Matter movement. As the years went on problems started to happen with the police.

    Death of Michael Jackson
    Michael Jackson was the King of Pop. He was a legendary singer, dancer and entertainer. He was loved by the whole world and his music changed the pop music industry. This event shaped the world I live in because with his music, musicians around the world wanted to be just like him. Michael Jackson is a musician idol for many. At the time of his death the world mourned that the King of Pop was gone.
  • Mass Shooting in Movie Theater

    Mass Shooting in Movie Theater
    The mass shooting occurred in the Century 16 movie theater in Aurora, Colorado. James Holmes set off tear gas grenades inside and started shooting. 12 people were killed and 70 others were badly injured. This event shaped the world I live in because this attack first had the largest number of casualties until the Orlando nightclub shooting and the Las Vegas shooting. After this happened there became more and more shootings happening all over the world. This is definitely changing peoples lives.

    Continuation from 6th to 7th grade
    Continuation from 6th to 7th grade is where you are getting ready to finish one chapter and start a new one. This is when my school put together a slide show and showed how much us kids have grown together during that short time This event is where I learned that things are going to change when you go to a new school whether you like it or not but its just what happens. Lastly, this is when you start to realize who your true friends are and who is gonna be by your side no matter what.

    Queen Elizabeth II is the longest reigning monarch in British History
    Queen Elizabeth is the Queen of the United Kingdom and the other commonwealth realms. She was born in London and has stayed there her whole life. She is 92 years old and still living life and going strong. This event shaped the world I live in because it shows that no matter how old you are you can accomplish anything and if you love what you are doing keep doing it. She has been reigning the Queen since 1952. If you put your mind to something you can achieve it.
  • Competition Dance

    Competition Dance
    Competitive dance is going to different competitions and you wear a costume and have stage makeup on. Your perform your routine in front of judges and wait for the award ceremony. This event has shaped who I have become because it taught me to have confidence in myself and I can perform in front of a big crowd of people. It also taught me to be competitive but also good sportsmanship. Lastly, it also taught me to work with other people and work as a team.
  • Competitive Softball

    Competitive Softball
    Competitive softball is playing with a group of girls and going to different tournaments playing against other teams trying to win as many games as you can in that day. This event has shaped who I have become because it taught me that it is okay to lose and you can't win every game. Everyone is going to have off days and all you can do is do your best for your team and yourself. It also taught me that no matter what you win as a team and lose as a team. It's no one persons fault.
  • Making First Communion/Confirmation

    Making First Communion/Confirmation
    Making my first communion/confirmation is where you receive the Eucharist. This event has shaped who I have become because I learned about a powerful God. I also learned about Adam and Eve, The Last Supper, what they did to Jesus on the cross, why we celebrate Christmas and Easter and much more. I learned prayers that I never new and to pray.
  • Making Honor Roll and Having Straight A's

    Making Honor Roll and Having Straight A's
    Making the Honor Roll is when you have a 3.5-4.0 GPA. This event has shaped who I have become because I learned that studying, working hard, having something to work hard for pays off. It also taught me that if you turn in your work on time, check in with your teachers and really focus on trying to get the best grade possible great things will happen. Be able to get straight A's for a whole semester is a true accomplishment and something to be proud of.
  • Broncos Win Super Bowl 50

    Broncos Win Super Bowl 50
    The Broncos won super bowl 50 in 2018. The Broncos played the Carolina Panthers and won 10-24. The objective of football is to score touchdowns and get as many points as you can. This event shaped the world I live in because the Broncos haven't won since the year 1998. It had been 17 years since they have last won. This was a very exciting moment for the football team, their coaches and all of the Bronco supporters. Everyone celebrated and had a great time watching the victory of the Broncos!!!
  • Rio de Janeiro hosts the Olympic Games

    Rio de Janeiro hosts the Olympic Games
    The Summer Olympics is when countries choose the best out of the best and create a team. They go and compete in different types of sports like swimming, volleyball, etc. The goal here is to try and go home with a Gold, Silver or Bronze medal back home. This event shaped the world I live in because this is when you see that the countries get along and can be supportive of each other no matter if you won or not. This is to show to not take things for granted and appreciate them and your team.
  • Death of Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia)

    Death of Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia)
    Carrie Fisher was an humorist, writer and an actor. The death of this specific person was a huge sad moment for a lot of people. Especially the ones who watched Star Wars and fell in love with her and her character Princess Leia. Carrie Fisher had died of a heart attack. This event shaped the world I live in because not everyone is here forever so you should appreciate what these people do for you. They entertain you and try and to teach you life lessons during their movies or even tv shows.
  • Going to High School

    Going into high school is another chapter in a book. Things change once again and not all of your friends are gonna go to the same high school with you. This showed me that high school is scary at first but you get past it. You meet more new people and learn new things. Being involved whether being in a sport or just going and watching sports events makes high school fun. I've learned to enjoy my time here because it doesn't last forever and when you leave you can't ever get it back.

    Poms is a group of girls that go to the same high school and perform at all of the sporting events during half time. You go to camp in Colorado Springs and learn half time dances and bond with your team. You spend pretty much every day with these girls and they become some of your best friends. This event has shaped who I have become because all my years of hard work and competitive dance has paid off. It also teaches me that being involved makes high school so much more fun.
  • Death of Roy Halladay

    Death of Roy Halladay
    Roy Halladay was an amazing baseball player. The point of baseball is to score as many runs as you can. He grew up here in Denver, Colorado. He went to Arvada West Hug School and after high school went straight to the MLB. He played baseball for the Blue Jays and the Philadelphia Phillies. He died in a plane crash at the age of 40. This event shaped the world I live in because not only does a family lose him as a dad and husband, everyone who watched him play baseball loses him too.
