  • Shopping List- Orchard Toys

    Shopping List- Orchard Toys
This game was one of the first tabletop games I recall playing. It was played regularly as it helped me develop patience, memory and matching skills as well as numeracy and vocabulary skills. The mechanics of the game involved flipping over cards and filling your shopping trolley with the items on your allocated shopping list. • Shrek: Swamp Fun with Phonics

    Shrek: Swamp Fun with Phonics
One of the first PC games I remember playing when I would stay at my Auntie's house. This was a Shrek-themed game set out in a third-person arcade format. It taught me the basics of how to spell words and it had the basis of a kid-friendly survival game with similar mechanics and technology as the original Mario arcade game but with phonics. • Trouble Game

    Trouble Game
This was another one of my favourite tabletop games that I'd regularly play with my family. It further developed my patience as I'd wait for an eternity to roll a 6. I enjoyed the experience of its unpredictable nature because sometimes you think you'll win but end up losing, which is very evident with the events that can happen in our lives sometimes. • Fire Boy and Water Girl

    Fire Boy and Water Girl
One of the first Cool Math Games and internet games I started to play at school back when they used to have computer rooms. Being able to operate two characters, taught me a sense of teamwork as well as problem-solving skills. It also taught spatial awareness of the traps and dangers. The simple aesthetic of the game was attractive and memorable, making it addictive. Game Reference: Oslo Albet 2009, Fire Boy and Water Girl, video game, PC, Cool Math Games

  • Pokemon

    Pokemon
Started collecting and playing Pokemon cards with my brother and friends at school at recess and lunch in Year 4, 2013. I built my first deck in 2014 with Genesect sleeves, I still have part of that deck to this day. This introduced me to the collection side and made me think critically and strategically during gameplay. The aesthetics of the characters were always appealing to me. • Minecraft

    Minecraft
This introduced me to survival games which taught me about craftmanship, hunting and mining, which created a temporary fascination with rocks and minerals. When playing with friends collaboration, and teamwork were key skills. Being able to experience a sense of achievement through hard work of mining was great. Being able to build and settle was something I enjoyed. Game Reference: Mojang Studios 2009, Minecraft, tabletop game, Mojang Studios

  • Arsenal

    Arsenal
One of the first FPS games I started playing on Roblox which introduced me to action games. Being able to feel that adrenaline rush due to the fast-paced nature of the game is always fun, making it addictive as well. This game has fine-tuned my aim and combat skills. I have also mastered playing it with my trackpad instead of a mouse. Being able to enjoy the atmosphere of the maps is very rewarding and nostalgic. Game Reference: ROLVe 2015, Arsenal, PC, Roblox

  • Fornite

    Fornite
Playing this on a console with my friend reminded me of the importance of collaboration in duos. Designing the game where it takes you a while to get back to the stage you were last at before getting killed, makes you realise the importance of your opportunity. Although surviving is stressful, winning is a very rewarding experience. This has also educated me on some of the real-life guns.
