Ketchikan Daily News Photo of Twin Bears Monument
The caption reads: "Twin bears guard the grace of Chief Kintahook of the Cape Fox Indians who now reside in Saxman. The granite monuments are in the Indian cemetery on Pennock Island. Kintahook dies in 1912. No one seems to know why there are two bears on the grave when the usual practice was to erect just one monument. Few people know of the existence of the old cemetery." -

Billey Johnson & Halley Johnson's monument still stands in the Johnson part of the graveyard at the Southeastern tip of Pennock Island. -
Charlie Starr & Susan Starr
The Starr section of the graveyard is the most intact. The graves of Charlie Starr, 1919 age 95, Susan Starr, 1891, age 20 and Rebecca Mary Starr, 1907, age 14 years, sit on a small cliff at the easternmost point of the graveyard. -

Almost competely buried by moss and leaves, the grave of Bissie C Johnson, died March 1912, age 5 years. -

Path through the Woods to Gravesites
The path through the woods from the beach is overgrown. Two cement sarcophogi are the first sign of the cemetery.
