The program survey planet is a great way to diagnose a new class of students. Survey planet allows for the teacher to create a series of questions of different types to get to know the class. The teacher can ask questions to get to know the culture of the students, or to get a diagnosis of the overall English level of the classroom. For example, I would introduce my students to this program the first day of class and ask them to fill out the survey with questions that ask about their culture. -
Pinterest
Pinterest is a program that teachers can use to network ideas with other teachers around the world about controlling the classroom, or creating lessons. Teachers can log into pinterest when they are experiencing diffuculties in classroom management, or running out of ideas for developing dynamic lessons plans. For example, when my students finished an assignment early they would begin to fool around. I got an idea from a pinboard to create a box with extra work written on popsicles. -
Khan Academy
Khan Academy is a website in which students look at different tutorials about various academic subjects. This is a great tool for a teacher to provide reinforment for students who need it or want to learn even more about a subject. For example, a way I would use this program with students is to explain a difficult part of speech, like subject-verb agreement. Students would be able to look at the videos as many times as necessary for them to understand subject-verb agreement. -
Duolingo
Duolingo is a program which permits for autonomous language learning, and tracking of progress. Teachers can use this program to break away from the classroom and have students learn English on the internet. For exampl, I would use this program by asking students to complete 9 units for homework, and to send me a screenshot of their progress reports from the website. Students will be able to excell if they are advanced, or practice as much as necessary to master a difficult part of speech. -
StoryBird
StoryBird is a website where students can create their very own picture stories with a large variety of pictures. Students can learn to have fun with writing, and break away from writing essays or other very complicated writing. For example, I would teach my students about diiferent components that come in storys like the climax, plot, characters, point of view, etc. Then, my students would be able to write their very own stories on storybird, and tell it to the class in a class presentation. -
Quizlet
This is an excellent program for all English teachers to incorporate into their lessons. This webstie gives teachers the option to create a quiz with a large variety of questions to choose from, virtual flashcards for students to study from, images to incorporate into their quizs, and progress reports for students to relfect on. I would use this program to teach my students irregular verbs, because they can benefit from the flashcard study option. Then I would quiz them with a custom quiz. -
Animoto
Animoto is a program that allows for the teacher and the student to create a slide show to present a topic. A way I would use this program would be to have my students create a personal slideshow about their family and present it to the class. -
Powtoon
Powtoon is a program that can be used to create an animated slideshow. Powtoon has a large varity of cartoons and graphic animations to choose from, which allows you to create a unique presentation for the class. I would use this website by assigning my students a different part of speech, then asking the to present their part of speech to the class using Powtoon. -
Planboard
This is a terrific program for teachers to use to organize their schedules. Teachers can plan their month and even whole year curriculum on Planboard. This program gives the option to plan classes and organize them in chronological order. I would use this website to upload my daily plans and to plan my unit plans. I would also use this program to show my students their schedule and content that they will be studying for the whole unit. -
Class Dojo
Teachers can use this program to show their students their progress throughout the year. Students can learn to reflect on their work and behavior throughout the year. I would use this program to assign points and prizes to my students for showing good behavior. If students meet their expectations in behavior and academic work; they will receive a passing grade and a gift for their fantastic behavior and leadership. I would ask students to login to the website weekly to check their progress. -
Draw.io
This program is a great tool for teachers to create worksheets or animated information sheets about different English topics. This website offers teachers a way to be creative and unique in their work. I would use this website to create an animated worksheet about a particular part of speech many hispanic students find difficult, irregular verbs. I would create a list of irregular verbs for them to study and a worksheet that asks them to use all of the irregular verbs on their list. -
Timetoast
This website provides the option to create timelines about any topic. We can use pictures, dates, and texts to illustrate events or topics that occurred in chronological order. I would use this program with my students by asking them at the end of the unit to create a timeline of all the topics we covered during the unit. This will help my students study for their final exam that they will take at the end of the unit. Students can ask the teacher questions on difficult topics and syntax.
