Estlished by William Edward Forster , the framework for education for children between 5 and 13 in England. It also established the rights of education and the student voice.

Established free school milk, a third of a pint to all school children under the age of 18. However Margaret Thatcher and Harold Wilson discontinued this for children aged 8 to18.

Plowden Report 1967
States that home and school links were important in helping those that had poor educational performance and difficult social behaviour. It also helps schools to acknowledge that pastoral care was needed to help and support children from poor backgrounds, to perform better within school. However it was not necessarily based just on social economics.

The National Curriculum 1988
Established by Butler to widen participation of the core subjects English, Mathematics and Science and introduced other subjects to go alongside the core subjects. This was to make the curriculum broad and balenced, which was then introduced into primary and secondary schools in 1989.

Children's Act 1989
Safeguarding and promoting child welfare established to help keep children safe and well, through the establishment of social care services that were required to cater for every child's particular needs. Also changes were made under the laws (rights) in concept of parental rights to rights of the child.

Dearing Report 1994
Outlined that schools need to slim down the National Curriculum in key stage 1,2 and 3. This was to raise educational standards through the learning needs of the pupils through pastoral care. Arguably key stage 4 curriculum was addressed through what subjects were to continue as part of the statutory requirement within schools.

Established by Government and public authorities. This legislation in the UK provides every citizen with rights to be treated equally and fairly such as the right to life, freedom from torture etc. It establishes that every citizen has the responsibility to respect other people's rights as well as their own being respected.
