Flat Tire
On our way to Grand Isle, going down the interstate, we ran over something sharp in the road that popped our tire. Like Granny, when her dress got stuck in the thorny bushes, we too were stuck, not able to move. This hindered our journey, but we were able continue just as Granny was. -
Quick Sand
Once we arrived, my sister and I started to play on the beach. We later found that we were playing in quicksand and my sister and I started to sink in it. This relates to Phoenix when she meets the dog. Like us, Phoeniz thought she was safe and content, but in actuality she was not safe. -
Rescued
As my sister and I were struggling in the sand to help each other, my parents' friend came to help us get out. My parents' friends are like the "white man" that saved Phoenix from the dog, only they saved us from the sand. -
Go Home
After saving us, we were told that we had to evacuate the park and go back to Baton Rouge because a hurricane was coming. The "white man" encourages Phoenix to keep going on her journey so that she can make it to where she's going. -
Show the Way
There was a constant stream of cars that showed us the way home as we were evacuating. The lights that decorated to town also showed Phoenix the way to her destination.
