Publius Ovidius Naso (March 20, 43 BC–AD 17) was a Roman poet known as Ovid to the English-speaking world, who wrote on numerous subjects, including love, abandoned women and mythological transformations. Ranked as one of the three canonical poets of Latin literature alongside Virgil and Horace, Ovid is generally regarded as a great master of the elegiac couplet. -
